Quandong Moisturiser
This handmade, light emollient moisturiser, powered by Quandong Extract and Vitamin E, with Sweet Almond and Macadamia Oils, is perfect to in your hand bag for everyday use.
Quandong is a native Australian fruit used throughout the ages by Aboriginal communities for its healing and nutritious properties. Also known as Desert Peach, quandong has a distinctive peach mixed with apricot flavour. The fruit is commonly eaten fresh off the tree or used as an ingredient in desserts, jams and juices. As a native fruit of the central and south Australian desert, quandong has acclimatised over thousands of years to protect itself against the harsh sun and extreme environmental conditions. When applied topically as a single-plant extract, it protects skin in precisely the same way defending against the sun and preventing harmful toxins from entering the delicate dermal layer.
Quandong inhibits melanogenesis (the formation of unwanted pigmentation) and provides a strong defence against free radicals and UV damage that cause sunspots and pigmentation. While pigmentation is often a harmless condition, prevention and cure are both possible with quandong to increase confidence and leave skin looking healthy.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and has been in use for more than 50 years in dermatology. It protects the skin by destroying free-radicals which damage your skin.
Sweet Almond Oil is both a moisturizer and an emollient. Moisturizers supply water to the skin and hold it in with an oily substance. Emollients smooth the skin, filling in little gaps. Rather than adding moisture, they help the skin retain it by improving its barrier function. Many people use almond oil to help treat common skin conditions, such as dermatitis and eczema. In general, there is good evidence that moisturizers improve eczema. One study showed that a moisturizer containing sweet almond oil reduced the symptoms of moderate or severe hand dermatitis.
Macadamia Oil contains squalene and oleic acid that assist with cell regeneration, making this oil particularly useful for dry or chapped skin as it softens and moisturises. Oils extracted from macadamia contain omega 7 or palmitoleic acid, which is beneficial for wound healing, wounds, scratches and burns. The macadamia tree is an indigenous species to Australia and is over 60,000 years old. It’s believed it first began growing in the rainforests of northern NSW and there are now more than six million macadamia trees growing in Australia, many of them planted in order to cater to the high demand for macadamia nut oil in personal care products and cosmetics.
